Located in a neighborhood developed in the 1930 and close to the famous Werkbundsiedlung built 1932  this single family home sits on an even 600 m2 / 1/6 acre lot embedded between large size trees, only slightly elevated towards the street front.

The clients were looking for a maximum floor space and a lot of flexibility. The design is based on cubic elements connected to each other within the allowed volume corresponding to the zoning codes.

Due to a clever floor positioning following the terrain a four story structure could be developed. All floors are divided into three sections parallel to the street front. While the two outer sections are occupied with core functions, the inner section is used for staircase and as puffer zone.

There is no real basement since the lowest floor is used not only for the garage but also for a guest suite and a home office – both with direct access to the back yard. The second floor is considered to be the main floor and the main access, kitchen and family room are orientated to the street front while the living room area opens to the main terrace that is connected by stairs to the back yard. On the 3rd floor is the master suite and opposite the 2nd and 3rd bedroom – with a little den in-between. The top floor is considered a private lounge area with access to a spacious terrace – perfect to enjoy a sun downer and the wonderful view of Vienna. Bath rooms on three floors, closets and other features make this home adaptable to very different lifestyles.

The design does not reflect certain fashions and appears to be timeless. Solid Materials like concrete, wood and glass appear in their natural color and blend with the surrounding nature.
